Artifact 5: Stillborn Frame
Second-hand wooden heart frame, spray painted with red and chrome acrylic through lace fabric. Latex cured ontop of vintage anatomical drawings, marked into with black fineliner. Glued lace scraps and gold metal embellishments. Approx 5x5 inchesI wanted to recreate a scene from within the dissertation, where Moult is found collecting scraps of Furless-related objects as an act of desperate mourning, resurgance and resurection. “Moult started magpie-ing. I watched it, a subtle glimmer and they were caught; hunting with a desperation I had never seen before. They were building Furless back, chunk by chunk. A pearl, a sweet, a drawing. It was an anatomy of scraps. A miserable attempt at resurrection. I watched them cower with each placement, as though every artifact was a plea. Collecting items in their tiny hands, and placing each fragment in a line so direct, it was practically screaming: Go to Gown’s Room.”
